Outstanding Leadership in the Creative Arts
This course is for Heads, and aspiring Heads of Creative Arts Departments. You will learn new ways to drive excellent teaching and learning, lead your team to success, raise the profile of your subject throughout the school and ultimately lead your department to attain outstanding results.
You will learn a variety of strategies and look at case studies, which are proven to gain high results and create an outline for success which takes into account the particular context of your school. You will look at how you can partner with senior leaders, other departments and the local community to improve pupil outcomes and raise aspirations of children in your school. You will examine how to build positive relationships between staff, pupils and parents and how this is vital to your role, and the success of the department.

Your Course Leader
Gavin Kensit is currently Head of Faculty in a London comprehensive School. He has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and through his leadership he regularly achieves over 50% A*-B grades which is some of the highest in the school. He has coached many teachers to lead successful departments and in 2014 was awarded a Jack Petchey Outstanding Leader award for his services to Drama. Gavin is passionate about drama being an important part of a student’s life and his constant focus is on sustained engagement to gain outstanding results.
