Become an Outstanding NQT/New Teacher of Drama

Course description

This course is aimed at NQT’s and new teachers of Drama within their early years. This engaging and inspiring day will develop your practice in the classroom, equip you with excellent resources and supply effective strategies to ensure excellence when teaching Drama.

You will understand, as an active participator and as an external observer, what constitutes outstanding. Through an examination of Ofsted Criteria you will be given guidance on how you can challenge your teaching to engage students allowing them and you to make fast and rigorous progress.
Through an exploration of skills based and stimulus based Drama you will see how the classroom can be transformed into a place for active learning and discussion. Working from KS3 up to KS5 you will develop an understanding of how questioning, differentiation and pace can be implemented to make sure your teaching is outstanding.
In this very practical day you will explore Teacher-in-Role, Drama in Education and use scenarios as a way to access stimuli and encourage thought.  You will also take a lead in creating your own classroom resources, games and activities and see how through careful planning you can ensure your drama students experience excellent learning.

You will leave the course with knowledge and resources to ensure every lesson you teach engages the child and excites the mind. The day will equip and enthuse new drama teachers to become outstanding now and in the future.
