Course description

 

Being consistently outstanding involves creativity, passion and practice which pushes boundaries. With so many changes in examinations and Ofsted guidance this course will give you the practical skills to teach consistently Outstanding Lessons and ask you to challenge your everyday practice.

 

In this course you will explore how you can best teach both practical and theory lessons ensuring students, have a deep, rounded and exemplary understanding of Drama. You will look at what Ofsted asks to gain an ‘Outstanding’ lesson grade but also what you need to engage your students to make sure they achieve their best at all Key Stages. You will also explore possible adaptations to current practices to gain a consistent high level of teaching. You will look at how you can use data in a positive way to plan for lessons and differentiation within those lessons. You will also look at developing questioning.

 

You will come away from the day with a wealth of resources and knowledge to enable you to teach Outstanding Drama lessons that will engage and enthuse your students.

Your Course Leader

 

Sam Munday-Webb is currently working on research towards starting a PHD in Drama and Education and has been involved in making vast and positive changes to several schools' internal and wider development. He has progressed fast though Head of Department, Head of Faculty and now is a successful Senior School Leader. Sam has worked in inner city, rural and schools in special measures maintaining and sustaining improvements and outcomes for students and the school. In one school his leadership moved results from below 50% to 100% A-C’s. In addition to teaching in schools, Sam owns a theatre school for young people called Arts Academy Theatre School www.artsacademytheatre.com where he works to develop creativity and performances. With a directing and theatre background, his energy and commitment to Drama and Education is exemplary.
